The Best Options For Grain Intakes

Mechanical Reception Hopper

When designing a grain plant, be it on a large scale such as a grain store or a smaller scale such as a farm, positioning is key. You need to ensure your plant runs smoothly from intake to outlet without compromising space, throughput capacity or product quality. One of the things you will have to consider is the product inlet. You should consider questions like; Where should the intake be positioned? What throughput capacity do I need? Will my chosen means of delivery have enough room to maneuver quickly & safely? Should the intake be above or below ground?

Perry offers two different intakes that are compatible with their range of chain and flight conveyors, these are mechanical reception hoppers & trench intakes. Perry are currently offering a 10 year guarantee against trough perforation on their standard range of agricultural store conveyors (T’s & C’s apply).

Their mechanical reception hoppers & trench intakes are suitable for free-flowing products. The mechanical reception hoppers are suitable for both above and below ground use and can also be made into mobile receptions. Trench intakes have been designed to reduce time spent loading mobile grain driers and are designed to be installed within a pit without a product catchment hopper. Both types of intakes are manufactured from durable galvanised steel and have been designed to the same high specification as their chain & flight conveyor range and are available in capacities up to 1000tph.

Mechanical reception hoppers are available in lengths from 3m to 6m, this can be doubled when the units are used in tandem. Mechanical reception hoppers enable trailers, dumpers and other means of transportation to discharge product into the conveying/elevating system with ease. With so many options for the positioning of the hoppers, Perry are sure to be able to supply you with a solution that suits your needs.

The above-ground applications of their hoppers are particularly useful when there is a high water table and deep pits are not possible. They can be provided with additional height around the back and sides allowing for lorries/dumper trucks to reverse up to them and empty into the conveying system quickly and efficiently. By making the intakes mobile, you can position the intakes where they are needed and use them for multiple applications, making them the most flexible option.

Below ground applications require minimal civil works and allow for full drive-over access making them an affordable & practical solution. With the Perry mechanical reception hopper, there is no need for inverter controls, there are 2 separate controls slides with operating handles to allow for full flow control.

Perry’s trench intake conveyors have been purposefully designed to fill portable grain driers in a more efficient and cost-effective way. They are compatible with most portable driers and are available in lengths from 1.5m to 15m. They are narrow and compact, making them perfect for existing trenches, saving you time and money on civil works before installation. They have been built to handle dump loading with ease, and as an optional extra can be fitted with an intake hopper to increase the product catchment area.
